Comments and Reviews
I highly recommend against it—the project shows signs of dishonesty and a potential security threat.
After a detailed analysis of PlayTorrio, I've accumulated numerous red flags that make the project unreliable:
The author's YouTube channel contains only two videos, both from October 8, 2025, while the first commit in the repository was made in November 2025. This means the "demo of a working app" appeared before the code was published. The GitHub repository (ayman708-UX/PlayTorrio) is the only one. AlternativeTo also links to the non-existent ayman707-ux, which creates confusion and undermines trust. The repository size is over 1 GB when cloned (1.4 GB on disk!), which is completely atypical for an open-source media application. The official instructions require running AppImage with the --no-sandbox flag, which disables critical Chromium/Electron protections and could allow malicious code to gain full access to your system. There are no instructions for building from source, only launch scripts (start.bat, setup-linux.sh).
